BAZINGA
Slick performed well in his first start in January, but then failed to perform in the Unicorn Horn at the end of the month. While initial vet checkups found nothing he was given a week to recover before returning to the track for workouts. Throughout February we have seen steadily improving times from this colt, proving to us that he has a lot more to give on the track. He seems to have gotten over the issues he had in the unicorn horn and is ready to return to the track at any time. This past week, Slick ran three furlongs on the turf in :39.00. |
CELESTIA
Celestia may not have won on her first start, but she showed that she can run on race-day and is scheduled to run again before the month is up. The filly had been performing moderately in workouts, but having actually raced seems to have pulled her more into the game and her times are beginning to improve. This week, Celeste ran four furlongs on the turf in an impressive :52.50. If she continues to improve, she will be making a name for herself soon. |
FIRE IT UP
There's never a dry moment with this colt, who performed nicely in his first start. Although he struggled against more experienced company we expect to see more and more from him on the track. Comet continues to run well in workouts, and definitely has the drive to succeed given the right opportunities. He ran five furlongs on the dirt for this week's workout and impressed with a time of 1:02.00. He may not be up there with the older horses just yet, but he has the potential to make it. |
SYLVANITE
Sylvanite has been performing nicely on the track, and broke her maiden in her third start recently. She seems to improve every time she goes out, which is an encouraging sign. Sylv has been giving nice workouts all year, and while there are no vast improvements her times do seem to be changing steadily. Sylv has not worked out this week, as she is resting ready for her return to the track in March. |
VINDICATED
Vindicated had been worrying us a little, struggling to move up from third, but broke her maiden in her third start. The filly has potential, but a learning curve is clearly needed. Her workout times are generally good and show nothing to worry about. Indi has not worked out this week as she is resting ready for her return to the track in March. |
GIRL TALK
Lassy's return to the track has done wonders for her. While her times had seemed a little lackluster of late she has definitely improved this last week and we now suspect a lack of competition to be behind her drop in form. This week, Lassy ran four furlongs on the turf track to give a time of :51.60 which we hope suggests we can expect an improvement in her results. |
SILVER LINING
A return to proper training and racing has seen this colt revitalized, winning his last start at the end of January. His times had seemed a little lackluster before his return to the track but are now steadily improving; causing us to believe he is ready for a test - Alexia now plans to enter him in the Spring Cup to see how he does in a HoTY race. Shaman ran three furlongs on the dirt this week, with a time of :36.70. |
MARDI GRAS
This filly definitely has the potential to succeed, and finished third in her first start with Riverview Acres - a result which cannot be complained about. Her times, while not stellar, have been fairly consistent with some improvement obvious in this last week. This past week, Elise ran four furlongs on the turf track in :51.80 and seems to be getting back to good form. |
NATIONAL TREASURE
Treasure is a strong racehorse and a return to the track has seen her improving in leaps and bounds in workouts with excitement beginning to creep up about her potential. Due to a mistake entering she struggled to stay in her most recent race. Treasure did not run a timed workout this week due to resting ready for a return to the track in March. |
PREDATOR
This feisty stallion is definitely not one to be overlooked, although he seems to struggle against higher company. His times in workouts are generally strong and are generally consistent. This past week, Pred ran five furlongs on the dirt; wowing with a time of 1:01.20 - this is quite the jump for the bay and suggests he is ready to race after his disappointing start in the Clark Handicap*. |
